Pre-Fest: A Somatic Acrobatic Journey

A day-long with Jill Campbell and Heidi Blais to cultivate the grounded, present, intuitive and versatile acrobat within and without. Here's the flow of the day:
- Solo somatic practices to arrive in our body and connect with our breath.
- Hand-selected partner calibrations, allowing you to connect with others, hone your axis and solidify your acrobatic foundations in a variety of positions, from the ground up, with options to meet you according to your experience level, anatomical variation or other needs.
- Full body partner flow to put the pieces together into an integrated whole, moving through counterbalances, L-basing and standing basing.
- Group games infused throuhgout the day to build connections at-large and to prepare you for a weekend of new friendships and partnerships.
- Release techniques to restore the nervous system will be shared to close the day-long.
The goal is to leave the pre-fest feeling as good, or better than, when we first arrived. Join Jill and Heidi to build sustainable momentum for your weekend, and to invest in your acrobatic longevity!

Fizzy Flow

A playful L-base flow class exploring new pathways, creative transitions, and sequences that add a little fizz to your flow. Expect controlled dynamic movement, unexpected connections, and plenty of smooth, approachable play.

Fundamentals of Connection

Counter Balances

Come as you are to learn, grow, and play together. Explore breath, communication, weight sharing, and counterbalance to deepen connection with your body and partners. A playful, curious exploration of AcroYoga fundamentals, drawing from dance, slacklining, functional movement, and martial arts.

Progressions to Extended H2H

For this workshop we will cover and practice all the necessary progressive exercises to begin or improve extended hand-to-hand. This is not a beginner H2H workshop, and is for those who already have a H2H practice.
Prerequisites: Pairs should have an existing H2H or RH2H in L-base or standing positions. If standing, the pair should be able to hold with no steps for a minimum of 5s. If L-basing, the pair should be able to hold the same amount of time with no leg assistance. Flyers should be able to do 5 pushups, bases should be able to do the same amount with a flyer sitting on them.
Acro & Games

A playful, game-filled Acro class designed to get bodies moving and bring out your inner goofball. Grace and Kato bring their love of play, connection, and silliness into a low-pressure space to burn off energy, meet new people, and kick off the festival with plenty of laughter.
Prerequisites: Have a body and a willingness to get real, and real silly!
Icarian & Standing Mashup Trio

Like peanut butter and jelly, Icarian & Standing Acro skills make a iconic combo! Come explore some weird and wonderful ways to pop flyers between 2 bases, pop flyers into standing skills, and pop flyers into the unknown!
Prerequisites: Bird and throne straight throw icarians, standing F2H, dynamic spotting abilities
Dance Dance Mania

Experience the thrill of a Lucha Libre Wrestling-themed partner lift class, where participants will embody the dynamic high octane energy of high-flying wrestlers. This class is all about the drama! Participants will also explore throws, safe falls and role reversals, allowing them to have an exciting back and forth in a collaborative yet adversarial fight sequence culminating in a dramatic finisher!
Together, Angie and Moody create classes rooted in safety, trust, curiosity, and play, where strong partnerships, big laughs, and surprising discoveries are all part of the practice.

Sarah and Bryce are both students of the venerable acro teacher Danya, and they're here on a mission to pass down their hands-free acro skills to the next generation of L-Basers. The class will begin with hands-free tick-tocks, and then explore how to flow through even more of your favourite acro movements - but without hands! Together, they offer classes that mix depth, fun, and creativity — and will keep you guessing (and laughing) along the way.

For this workshop we will be exploring a one way flow that incorporates several difficult L-base skills. Some one-leg transitions, crocs, flying on base hands, etc. The flow will challenge both base and flyer.
Together, they bring a wealth of experience, technical knowledge, and a strong emphasis on safety to their teaching. They are passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where participants can challenge themselves, connect with others, and have fun.
Prerequisites: Reverse star, side star, and wobbly but achievable bird on hands.
Balance & Flow

Heidi & Jill take you on a journey where you will work forwards and backwards, low and high in an original partner flow. Grow your stamina, refine your balance, and expand your sense of what is possible!

Their work has taken them around the world, sharing their approach with Acro communities across the globe. An Icarian deep dive! We’ll be adding a half twist to the classic Icarian Courbettes and Cascades. Hayley & James bring decades of combined experience in gymnastics and Acro, with a shared love of learning, exploration, and helping others grow.

You know what they say; “low is for pro’s”! In this class begin by joining Morgan for a smidge of handstand work followed by numerous drills you can take home to refine your low reverse hand-to-hand practice. Join Morgan and Alex for some sneaky (maybe even silly!) reverse hand-to-hand variations!
Together, they bring a playful, curious approach to teaching, encouraging students to keep exploring, practicing, and learning from one another. For them, there is always more to discover, and practice is where progress happens.

Funky Trio Standing

Funky trio standing flow. Expect a mix of toss/swing, t-toss, pass the flyer. We're working on interesting transitions between different standing modalities. We expect to work in groups of 5-6 and there will be a strong focus on spotting and safety.
Prerequisites: Should have some basic knowledge of swing/toss and experience with trio standing skills

Jill and Heidi guide you into visually striking counterbalances that will simultaneously build your foundation for partnering with greater solidity, alignment, sensitivity and ease. Learn the mechanics of toe pitches from start to finish, with pathways for every level. Beginners will work toward pitching to hips, while intermediate and advanced students will have options to develop their edge skills. Advanced students will receive semi-private coaching from the workshop teachers, with tailored pathways for everyone in between.

This weekend you may have explored the fundamentals of connection. Or maybe you’ve been flipping and flopping, counterbalancing, or weaving contact improv into your practice? Perhaps you’re an experienced practitioner looking for some creative inspiration. In this all levels class, Aiden and Brett will challenge you to explore your edges and infuse your practice with creativity.
They have been collaborating to make magic since their first Queer & Trans Acro Class back in 2018. They both have long histories as adrenaline chasing acrobats, van/bus dwelling nomads, and community organizers. They now are both navigating this next chapter in their own acro journeys as parents. Aiden and Brett strive to centre consent, communication, and collaboration in their acro classes. They are excited to share this offering together at Elevate.

Massage and Therapeutics

A gentle acro-based therapeutic touch class inspired by Shiatsu and Thai massage. Explore partner stretching, nervous system regulation, and grounded giving and receiving through mindful, consent-based touch. A longer partnered sequence closes the class, creating space to rest, digest, and deeply relax after the festival.
